MALEGAON (NASHIK): Continuing with its sensational seizures in Nashik district, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai Police late on Sunday seized five AK
-47 rifles, 20 magazines containing 1,000 live cartridges and 13.5 kg of RDX in a raid on an electrical shop in Azadnagar.
The raids were conducted following interrogation of five persons recently arrested in Malegaon in connection with the seizure of arms, ammunition and RDX at
Aurangabad and Manmad.
The ATS swooped down on Abdulla Electricals located in a shopping centre opposite Islam Gymkhana in Azadnagar around 12.30 am on Monday. The shop
owned by Abdul Gani Osman Gani was closed but the police forced open the shutter and searched the premises to find five boxes containing arms,
ammunition and explosives.
Gani had gone underground by then, but the police received information that he was hiding in a cowshed and nabbed him there. He was taken to Mumbai around
2 am.
Gani’s arrest sent shockwaves in the Azadnagar area. Speaking to TOI, a shopkeeper said they would never have thought Gani would to be involved in anti-national
activities.
“He was a well-behaved and simple man and used to be in the forefront of activities aimed at maintaining communal harmony,” said a shopkeeper who
refused to be identified.
He added Gani shared a cordial relationship with local police as he was one of the main activists who used to arrange functions on religious occasions to foster
communal harmony. Sources in the local police said even they were shocked by the development. Gani has no previous police record.
The ATS on May 9 had seized 10 AK-47 rifles, several revolvers, 2,000 bullets and 30 kg of RDX from a Tata Sumo in Aurangabad. In another seizure on May 13
this time near Manmad one AK-47 rifle, 206 live cartridges and 50 hand granades were seized by the ATS.
Five persons, including an activist of the Student’s Islamic Movement of India (Simi), were nabbed by the ATS in connection with the seizure and taken to
Mumbai.

அவர்களிடமிருந்து 10 ஏகே 47 ரக துப்பாக்கிகள், 30 கிலோ ஆர்டிஎக்ஸ் வெடி மருந்து, 2000 துப்பாக்கி குண்டுகள் ஆகியவை கைப்பற்றப்பட்டன. மற்றொரு காரில் வந்த தீவிரவாதிகள்
தப்பிவிட்டனர். அவர்கள் சென்ற கார் நாசிக் அருகே வியாழக்கிழமை கண்டு பிடிக்கப்பட்டது.
இதையடுத்து, தீவிரவாதத் தடுப்பு பிரிவு போலீஸôர் நாசிக்கை சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதிகளில் தேடுதல் வேட்டையில் ஈடுபட்டனர். அதன் பயனாக, மன்மாட் மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள அன்கய்
துறைமுகத்தில் பதுக்கி வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த ஏகே 47 ரக துப்பாக்கி, ஆர்டிஎக்ஸ் வெடிமருந்து ஆகியவை பறிமுதல் செய்யப்பட்டன.
துறைமுகத்தில் பறிமுதல் செய்யப்பட்டவை, தப்பிச் சென்ற தீவிரவாதிகள் கடத்திய வெடிபொருள்களில் ஒரு பகுதியாக இருக்கலாம் என்று போலீஸôர் சந்தேகிக்கின்றனர்.
செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு உதவிய 4 பேர் சனிக்கிழமை கைது செய்யப்பட்டனர். தீவிரவாதிகள் பயணம் செய்த காரின் டிரைவரும் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இவர்கள்
அனைவரும் மும்பை நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜர் செய்யப்படுவார்கள்.

Explosives, weapons seized from Manmad fort

The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Mumbai police on Saturday seized another consignment of weapons from Ankai Fort at Manmad in Nashik district, about 180 km from
Mumbai.
Four locals were also arrested in Malegaon from the same district in connection with Tuesday’s seizure of arms and explosives.
The ATS seized a AK-47 rifle, 200 rounds and a magazine, which was hidden in a a computer server cabinet, while it also recovered 50 hand grenades from a
carton, the ATS chief KP Raghuvanshi said in Mumbai.
The huge arms cache which ATS recovered on Tuesday from three Lashkar-e-Taiba suspects in Aurangabad in the State, was also hidden in computer server
cabinets.
A second group of LeT suspects, who fled when police intercepted them on Tuesday near Aurangabad, could have dumped the arms out of fear of getting caught,
Raghuvanshi said.
Meanwhile, four persons from Malegaon were held on Saturday on the charge of assisting the three LeT suspects, in ferrying arms and explosives, taking the total
number of those arrested in the case to eight.
The arrested were involved in changing registration number plates of the two four-wheelers in which the LeT suspects were carrying arms and explosives,
Raghuvanshi said.
The arrested suspects will be brought to Mumbai on Sunday and will be produced before a court the same day, ATS sources said.
The four persons arrested from Malegaon will be charged of being part of the conspiracy hatched by the LeT suspects.
“By helping the LeT suspects in transportation, they (the arrested four) have also participated in the conspiracy hatched by the LeT suspects,” Raghuvanshi added.
One Abdul Azim, who allegedly drove the four-wheeler in which the LeT suspects were travelling, had surrendered before Aurangabad police on Friday and
would be brought to Mumbai on Sunday, ATS sources added.
ATS also said that it will invoke stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the Aurangabad LeT arms seizure case in view of the ‘unearthing
of a bigger plan involving many people’.
“We are most likely to invoke MCOCA. Our probe has shown that the case has all necessary ingredients to invoke MCOCA,” ATS chief Raghuvanshi said.
At present the ATS has invoked the Explosives Act, but if MCOCA is invoked, it would give the ATS a shot in arm, since the law provides more police custody of
the accused for investigation and stringent bail norms, ATS sources said.
3 LeT suspects arrested; 10 AK-47s, 40-kg RDX seized

The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Mumbai Police has arrested three suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in Aurangabad.
The police also seized 10 AK-47 assault rifles and 40-kg RDX from them.
The raid, conducted by the ATS on Tuesday following a tip-off by Delhi police, who killed an LeT terrorist in an encounter two days ago in the capital, led to the
seizure of 40 AK-47 magazines and over 2000 rounds besides the automatic guns and the RDX, sources said.
They added that the suspected LeT terrorists were trying to flee with the arms when they were arrested by the ATS.
ATS sources said that apart from Aurangabad, a search was also carried out at an undisclosed place in Mumbai but police did not recover anything suspicious.
In both operations, the ATS was joined by a team of Delhi police.
The arrested LeT suspects will be brought to city later in the afternoon and will be produced in court.

Hizb militant killed, 38 kg of RDX seized

A hardcore Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed and a retired forester injured, while the security forces arrested two suspects and seized 38 kg of RDX, foiling
militants’ plan to set off massive explosions in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.
The Hizbul militant, Khurshid Ahmad, alias Muneeb, was killed in an encounter with the security forces in the forest area of Thathri in Doda district last night, the
spokesman said.
In another operation in the district, the security forces recovered an IED, filled with 35 kg of RDX, from Mathora-Dharam Kote in the Bhaderwah area last night.
The IED was later defused by experts, foiling militants’ plan to set off a massive explosion in Doda, the spokesman said.
The security forces apprehended a suspected militant at Takia Saderkote in Baramula district and seized 3 kg of RDX and some documents from him, he said.
The spokesman said the security forces arrested one more suspect from Brinal Lamand in Anantnag district and seized a hand grenade and 35 cartridges from him.
Militants shot at and injured a retired forester, Mohammad Assadullah War, inside his house at Sheikhpora in Baramula district, he said, adding, War was
hospitalised.
The security forces busted a natural cave-type hideout at Kanthol in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district yesterday.
The recoveries from the hideout included one AK-56 rifle with its five cartridges, one under-barrel grenade launcher with one grenade, three anti-personnel mines,
four Chinese hand grenades, one round of rocket-propelled gun, two IEDs, 14 detonators, 80 metres of cordex wire and one radio set, the spokesman said. — PTI

Police tonight seized 38 kgs of RDX and other ammunition from Poonch district on a tip-off by a surrendered Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen militant, official sources said. Police
conducted the search at Chatta Pani area in Poonch after Taj Pehalwan gave information to them, they said.
During the search, police recovered 38 kgs of rdx, 498 rounds, one AK rifle, one UBGL, 10 UBGL grenades, 20 grenades, one wireless set, they said.

ஜம்மு, மே 14: ஜம்மு-காஷ்மீரில் அண்மையில் இரு வேறு சம்பவங்களில் பயங்கரவாதிகளால் 35 இந்துக்கள் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டதைக் கண்டித்து பாஜக சனிக்கிழமை நடத்திய பேரணியில் பயங்கரவாதிகள் சக்தி வாய்ந்த கையெறி குண்டு வீசி தாக்கினர்.
இதில் பாஜக தொண்டர்கள் இருவர் சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே இறந்தனர். 41 பேர் காயமடைந்தனர். இதில் 7 பேர் நிலைமை கவலைக்கிடமாக உள்ளது.
இந்த கண்டன பேரணிக்கு ஜம்மு-காஷ்மீர் மாநில பாஜக ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தது. இதில் 1500-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பாஜகவினர் கலந்து கொண்டனர். தோடா நகர பஸ் நிலையம் அருகே பேரணியினர் மீது பயங்கரவாதிகள் சக்தி வாய்ந்த கையெறி குண்டு வீசி தாக்கினர். இதில் பாஜகவினருடன் பயணிகள் சிலரும் காயமடைந்தனர். காலை 11.25 மணியளவில் சம்பவம் நடைபெற்றது.
கையெறி குண்டு வீச்சு சம்பவத்துக்கு பயங்கரவாதிகள் யாரும் இதுவரை பொறுபேற்கவில்லை.
பயங்கரவாதிகளுக்கு ஆதரவாக ஜம்மு-காஷ்மீர் மாநில ஆளும் காங்கிரஸ் தலைமையிலான கூட்டணி அரசு செயல்படுகிறது. மாநில அரசை பதவி நீக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று மாநில பாஜக செய்தித் தொடர்பாளர் பேராசிரியர் ஹரிஓம் வலியுறுத்தினார். இந்துக்கள் படுகொலைக்கு எதிரான பாஜகவின் போராட்டம் தொடரும் என்றும் அவர் சொன்னார்.
கிராம பாதுகாப்பு கமிட்டிக்கும், சிறப்பு போலீஸ் அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் நவீன ஆயுதங்கள் அளிக்கப்பட வேண்டும். அப்போதுதான் அவர்கள் பயங்கரவாதிகளை எதிர்கொள்ள முடியும் என்றார் ஹரிஓம்.
இதனிடையே, கையெறி குண்டு வீச்சு சம்பவத்துக்கு காரணமான பயங்கரவாதிகளை தேடும் பணி முடுக்கி விடப்பட்டுள்ளது என்று போலீஸôர் தெரிவித்தனர்.

BJP to protest ‘conspiracy’ against Kashmiri Hindus
New Delhi: The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will begin a countrywide campaign May 20 to protest “the conspiracy to push out the Hindus from the border areas of Jammu”.
“In the last few months, the conspiracy to push out Hindus from border areas of Jammu and particularly Doda have intensified,” BJP president Rajnath Singh said in a statement, pointing out that in the last fortnight, 32 Hindus had been killed in Doda and Udhampur.
As part of the agitation sit-ins will be staged at all district headquarters in the country during the week beginning May 20. Party workers from different parts of the country will hold rallies and sit-ins at Jammu June 7-15.
Cadres of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the party’s youth wing, will form a human chain in all state capitals during the week June 23-30.
“There was a terrorist attack on a BJP rally held in protest against this in which (two) party workers were killed and (many) several injured. Is it a crime in this country to peacefully demand safety?” Singh wondered.
He pointed out that instead of condemning the terrorist attacks, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had “accused the BJP of fomenting discontentment”.
“The chief minister’s statement in this regard is not only unfortunate but also encourages the terrorist mindset. It also reflects the government’s intention,” the statement said.
Singh accused the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of adopting a “soft attitude” towards terrorists since coming to power in 2004.
“Just as around 16 years back, Hindus had been pushed out of the Kashmir valley, an attempt is now being made to do the same from Jammu. This is a major challenge to the country’s unity.
“The BJP, while accepting this challenge, has launched its nationwide agitation,” the statement said.
